It’s Opposite Day!!!
Ever have something back fire on you?
I decided I wanted to leave my job. Boss tends to be a jerk and can be demeaning and a bully sometimes. Usually I ignore it. Usually it doesn’t affect me because I know it isn’t personal, its just him. Recently, it has started to really bother me. My employer is well known and well respected in town, and it’s a small town. So, in order to effectively attempt to leave with no hard feelings, I decided to let him know that I need a full time job, and I need to make more money. Since I’m only part time with his office and unsure of full time and pay opportunities with him, as I explained to him, I may need to pursue other job opportunities out there.
He offered me more hours.
This is the third time I’ve unsuccessfully tried to quit my job. I suck.

Obviously you are meant to be there for some reason. I can understand the political dilemma you talk of… and hope that you find a way out - if that’s what you really want.

I tried to quit my retail job once and they had a half hour interview with me to make me stay. Still didn’t work though.
I’m working my through all my blogroll to let you know that, due to the useless of both blogger and my server, the url http://www.freelanceguru.co.uk no longer works.
For some reason the only address that’s working is http://Freelanceguru.co.uk

Bugger. You may have to sleep with someone in the office, develop a disgusting personal affliction or Tourette’s Syndrome, or maybe you could just tell him he’s a dickhead?

Huh. I’ve had that happen too, came out of the meeting feeling rather conflicted. At least now you’re got a bigger paycheck while you look for something else..?

Hi Asterisk:
I know! Maybe if I fucked up more, he might just fire me.
Hi Chani:
There are some decent benefits there, just none that pay. Honestly, I don’t see leaving it without another one in hand. So, my resume is out there!
Hi Freelance:
When I left retail it was hard to convince me to stay too! I changed your link.
Hi Glam:
Would you believe 2 years ago I told him I was quitting because he was an Asshole? And would you believe he promised to change? And would you further believe I stayed? Arg.
Hi Meno:
Thanks. And Thanks!
Hi Stucco:
hehehehe. I should have. But I fear it would only produce a confused look on his face.
Hi Amy:
ahhhh, the silver lining!
Hi Em:
Hubby laughed pretty hard at me too. Admittedly, It is funny.

Hmmm….I know this problem too well. Been there and all. The only thing I can think of is find a place, or job, offering a slight twist to your current job. Something existing employer couldn’t match in skill set or opportunity. Make it about the quality of the work or needing a change. Will that work? That’s what I was aiming for. Waited too long and illness felled me instead. When I handed in my sick notice, my boss actually said “work weekends or evenings if you want”…right, he completely missed the fact i was dying standing up. God save us from shitty bosses.
